The official BOSTON site has been updated with a post from Tom, along with some tour dates.  As previously posted, two dates had shown up already for BOSTON to play this summer in Belleville, Ontario and Valdosta, Georgia.

From bandboston.com:

Just 10 months till the end ... at least till the end of the Mayan calendar anyway. I wonder, did they mean to prophesize the end of the world, or was the December 21st planetary alignment just a convenient place to stop chiseling stone tablets on a really long calendar project? Some people think it is the same thing, so why take a chance? If I was making a bucket list, it would definitely include going out one more time to play some BOSTON shows - before time runs out!

So just to be safe, we are going to do exactly that. I don't really think the world is going to end this year, but on the off chance the Mayans were on to something, let me take a moment to thank all of you for helping make the BOSTON experience an awesome ride. One of the best things about BOSTON to me is its fans; they are some of the nicest people I've ever met, and collectively the best crowds anyone could wish to play for.

I regret that we can't play as many shows as we would like, but we will do as much as we can in North America. Check out our tour page for the list of shows that have been confirmed so far, and if you can, come out to enjoy another night of BOSTON's music before the next great coronal mass ejection.

Tom Scholz

The tour dates are on the official site, they are also being kept up to date on the 2012 Tour Listings page, which will have info about the shows and venues. The band will also be giving fans access to presale tickets (where available). You can check out boston.tickets.musictoday.com to see if the show you plan on going to will be listed.

Previously it was reported that a show had been announced for July in Belleville, Ontario. There have been no official announcements made of a tour as of yet, however another show date has shown up.

This show is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, GA. This, in addition to the Belleville show, looks like the beginning of a summer tour.

Tickets for this show will be first available to season pass holders as of Feb 13, while availability to the public will be available as of February 20 at 10:00 am. Tickets can be purchased by phone, online or at the park.

For those that have been following the defamation lawsuit between Tom Scholz and the Boston Herald, there's been another setback, according to an article by the Boston Herald (no other sources available at time of writing this article).

Susan Stenger, one of Tom's lawyers, has been ordered to pay over $17,000 in attorney fees to the Herald for withholding over 19,000 pages of evidence, which a judge ordered Tom to produce in summer of 2010. It appears Tom did produce the documents, but the lawyer did not hand them over to the Herald's lawyers until October of this year. Discovery Master Thomas Maffei determined that the evidence was not intentionally withheld, saying "I find no basis to conclude that the late production of the nine boxes was intentional on Ms. Stenger's part, that she purposely violated a court order, or that she withheld the boxes because Mr. Scholz directed her to do so," Maffei wrote in his Dec. 23 order. "The failure was a mistake, plain and simple."

Wild Blue Yonder Magazine has published a list of some of Tom Scholz's favorite places in Boston:

The Lowdown:
MIT grad and founder of the rock band BOSTON, Tom Scholz has lived in Beantown for three decades and lays out his favorite haunts.

HANGOUT
Faneuil Hall Marketplace, also known as Quincy Market, is a great place to relax outdoors and watch the endless and entertaining parade of people and street performers (1 Faneuil Hall, 617-523-1300).

EATS
My wife and I love the Mediterranean food at Vlora where there are plenty of options for vegetarians (545 Boylston St, 617-638-9699).

Cafe Sol Azteca, just a short ride from downtown Boston, has a beautiful outdoor terrace and serves excellent guacamole, black bean soup and margaritas (75 Union St, Newton Ctr; 617-964-0920).

Farther out in Waltham, La Campania serves the finest gourmet Italian fare in a relaxed but elegant setting (504 Main St; 781-894-4280).

MUST-DO
See a show at Symphony Hall. The acoustics are considered to be the best in the nation. The huge 4,800-pipe organ is incredible, and the grand decor will take you back in time (301 Massachusetts Ave, 617-266-1492).

BOSTON publicist Gail Parenteau released a statement regarding the departure of Michael Sweet which was published on the news site blabbermouth.net:

"We truly enjoyed having Michael Sweet sing and play guitar on stage for the 2008 BOSTON tour along with Tommy DeCarlo, who was the lead vocalist replacing Brad Delp. However, Michael has not been involved in the recording of BOSTON's next studio album, which is now 85% complete. We have always understood his obvious commitment to his band STRYPER, and wish him and his band the best of luck with their new endeavors.

"The lead vocals for BOSTON's soon-to-be-released studio album include Brad Delp's singing on many songs, along with several excellent performances by our other three lead vocalists. The album reflects an intentional effort by principal songwriter and producer Tom Scholz to capture the recognizable sound and energy of his original releases, combined with the musical sophistication expected from exceptional players and vocalists all performing within the traditional framework of the well-known BOSTON sound."
