2008 Live Shows

Seventies super group Boston will reunite and rock the RiverPlace stage at Musikfest on Aug. 4, 8:30 p.m., as the band embarks on its first tour since 2004.

The brainchild of studio technician and musician Tom Scholz, Boston electrified the music world in 1976 with its self-titled debut featuring the hits “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind” and “Foreplay/Long Time.” On the strength of those tunes, now staples on classic rock radio, the album went on to become the best-selling debut record of all time.

In 1978, the group followed up with another smash, “Don’t Look Back,” which hit number-one on the Billboard charts and featured the top-five hit of the same name. Its 1986 record, “Third Stage,” also made it to the top of the recording charts and included hits such as “Amanda,” “We’re Ready” and “Can’t You Say.”

The current Boston lineup will include Michael Sweet, singer for Stryper, handling the lead vocals. Sweet was one of the guest vocalists for the August 2007 Tribute to Brad Delp concert in Boston that featured all of the remaining original members of the band.

Media sponsor for the Boston show is 99.9 The Hawk. Tickets for the concert are $24-$47. They will go on sale in April, with members of the new ArtsQuest membership program having the first opportunity to purchase tickets. On-sale dates are 10 a.m. April 14-16 to ArtsQuest members, 10 a.m. April 17 to Musikfest sponsors and their employees and 10 a.m. April 18 to the public.
Tickets may be ordered by visiting or calling 610-332-FEST (3378).
