Gibson.com published a list called Rock This Town! 10 Great Bands Named After Places, where they highlight bands named after places. Boston was featured as #10.

10. Boston

debut 400
Were there any mid-’70s album collections that didn’t include Boston’s 1976 debut album? The group did in fact emerge from the Beantown scene, and songs such as “More Than a Feeling” and “Peace of Mind” almost instantly became part of the classic rock canon. While the bands’ hits have been overplayed enough to lose some impact, it’s worth remembering just how revolutionary, innovative and influential founder Tom Scholz’s guitar and production work were at the time.
